Folklore & Fairytales

May 12th - 17th, 2024

New Orleans, Louisiana, U.S.A

Registration Closed for 2024

We've planned another Art, Culture, Adventure Retreat! Come create with us at Folklore & Fairytales, May 12th - 17th, 2024, in New Orleans, Louisiana at the most wonderful Hotel Provincial!  Your fabulous facilitators will once again be Tracy Buechler of Be Brave Studio and Theresa Ratcliff of Blue Tulip Designs.

During this creative adventure each participant will create a Soul Sister art doll and an accompanying fine silver talisman that will uniquely reflect the creators' personality through color, embellishment, and creative story.  Participants will also be treated to a bit of folklore and fairytale by way of a guided city tour and a walking ghost tour, which will both entertain and enlighten everyone about the rich history and culture that is found nowhere but New Orleans!

This Art, Culture, Adventure Retreat will be held at the picturesque and serene Hotel Provincial in the historic French Quarter of New Orleans.  Hotel Provincial is just one block away from the famous French Market and the Ursuline Convent, and a four-minute stroll to Jackson Square.

Here's What a Past Brave Soul Sister Had to Say

I had the pleasure of going on an Art Adventure week...Soul Sister, Folklore & Fairytales in New Orleans May 2023.

Tracy Buechler was the art organizer for us Canadian attendees. Upon hearing of this Art Retreat I was immediately intrigued the way Tracy explained that it was a trip for anyone and all you had to bring was your creative side!  And this is what exactly happened!

Tracy made all the travel arrangements and with no difficulty.  This also, included our excursions in marvelous New Orleans!!  The trip was seamless and was well organized!  There was something special for each of us! We made our whimsical New Orleans Dolls and Silver Clay Medallions.  Tracy and Theresa were wonderful instructors and tour guides.  We had a balance of art for one day and a tour the next. We took in ghost a tour, paddle wheel boat dinner and cruise on the Mississippi, trips to local art galleries, shopping and a wonderful Mother's Day Brunch, all the time, back in the studio at the fabulous Hotel Provincial, we worked on our Mardi Gras whimsical dolls and silver medallions, as they were a work in progress.

I want to say Tracy in her easy-going manner was always there to lend a hand when we were creating.  She would give us direction and encourage us to create our own special doll.  Tracy has a love of art that is infectious, she can truly motivate her students to bring out the best in their work.  She has strong but subtle ideas that finish off the project and something no one else would think of.  Tracy is a true artist not only as her profession but in her very being!

I cannot wait to fo on another Art Week with Tracy.  She made the whole trip a fun, relaxing, creative excursion!  She puts much thought and experience into her art trips.  If you want a memorable trip of a lifetime join Tracy on one of her many art getaways....you will see the world through Artist and Local eyes!
